Our Team

Paul Fronhofer

Co-Owner Paul Fronhofer had his first bike experience at the age of 7 when his dad pushed him down a hill at his grandmother’s house… without training wheels. Since that time, Paul has raced in 13 Ironmans (a two-time Ironman Hawaii finisher), XTERRA Worlds, ITU Cross Worlds and has competed in countless local, regional and national races. You’ll see Paul around the shop on weekends, leading Saturday morning rides and offering customers advice based on his varied and rich riding experiences.

A 100-mile loop from his house in Argyle to the top of Stratton Mountain.

Dan Fronhofer

Co-Owner Dan Fronhofer realized he enjoyed being on a bike after his family dragged him along on a century ride when he was 12 years old. With 4 Ironman appearances (including Kona and Lake Placid), a 48-hour adventure race and sprint victories in Georgia, he considers himself equal parts triathlete, mountain biker and roadie. Off the bike, Dan was a Division I rower at Cornell, where he later coached. In 2012, Dan had a once in a lifetime opportunity to coach Olympic rowing at the London games. Customers of Grey Ghost will benefit from his sound advice and enthusiasm for an active lifestyle.

A global assortment that includes the "six gap century" in the mountains of north Georgia to Devil’s Kitchen in the Catskills to biking in the Alps while following the Tour - including the enormous, epic Col d’Izoard climb.

Steve Fairchild

Operations Manager Steve Fairchild fell in love with cycling as a teenager while watching his uncle race bikes in Northern Vermont.  In 1984 he began his own racing career that spanned 28 years and included two stints in Europe, ten Empire State Game medals and multiple NY North district championships. During that same time, he worked both the manufacturing and retail side of the bike industry, starting as a mechanic and ending as a sales director. With this experience, Steve brings to Grey Ghost a deep understanding of the physiology and biomechanics of cycling and an unparalleled passion for the sport.
